The end of the year is such a whirlwind, this is just a little peek at what I've been up to with my students.
I threw a mini book fair and it was so fun! :) I will admit that I am a book hoarder. I LOVE books and have accumulated a ton over the past 10 years.
The kids came in and "shopped" for their summer reading and then grabbed some goodies. They had a lot of fun, and I loved watching them get excited about reading! Win-win!
I've also been super busy trying to squeeze in many "lunch bunches." I think I've had a lunch bunch every day for the past week! Today was a special one. It was the last day of school and it was GIRLS only!! The girls created summer journals so that they can journal about their summer adventures. I think they were too busy crafting to eat, but it's hard eating when lunch is at 10:30 in the morning and you just had a cupcake before coming to lunch bunch!
Some other activities this week were graduation and superlative awards in Miss Troiano's 3rd grade class, parties galore, lots of hugs and just plain silliness. Finally, the waving good-bye to busses this afternoon and our last staff luncheon. Whew!

It's been an awesome year! And as much as I am looking forward to my R&R, first I have this MESS waiting for me...
Come Monday afternoon friends, I'll officially be on summer vacay!! Whoo-hoo!! Happy summer to YOU. I wish you lots of fun in the sun. You deserve it!
Hi there! I'm an ESL teacher in NC and love your blog and TPT store. I admire your work so much!! I was just wondering what your lunch bunches are. It looks like fun but I'd like to know more! I hope your work day Monday goes well! Happy Summer!
ReplyDeleteHi Megan! Thank you so much!!! My lunch bunches...:) During lunch I take a few students, usually 3 to 4, to have lunch with me in my classroom. (Typically it's one student's lunch bunch and he/she gets to pick 2-3 friends to join us.) The kids LOVE it! I use it as a reward, as a time to mentor, or as a time to sneak in a fun review. I've also used it as a "lunch bunch book club" with a group of reluctant readers. This gave them some incentive to read and discuss a good book once a week:) Basically a lunch bunch is just having lunch with students. I get my phone out and play some kid friendly music while we enjoy each others company:) The kids really do love it! Happy Summer to you to Megan:)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the explanation! I really like this idea and hope to incorporate it into my upcoming school year. Keep the good ideas coming!
